| How has spring come around so soon? A warm welcome to old and new members – here's the first edition of Mainsheet for 2010. First things first - please ensure you get your mast up as soon as possible as they get in the way! If it's too cold for you to sail, why not see to your mast then join us in the clubhouse for a drink and watch the sailing? This year, sailing will either be in the morning or afternoon, according to the tide. Series will comprise more races on a given day (3 races on these days), and this will hopefully extend to trophy races where the rules allow. The sailing programme includes as many Wednesday evening races as tides and light allow, but there will be no Friday evening races. 2010 events will include an Open Day, Bug Week and an F18 Open, but no Dart 18 Open this year. Remember to keep looking at the website for details of upcoming races and changes to the programme. We begin this edition with Commodore Jill Andrews' review of 2009, and say hello to the new committee. Chris Burke is Spring's Meet A Member, and we've also got the first answers to Chris' quiz, set at the end of last season. Please remember, if you have anything you’d like to contribute to Mainsheet, be it a book review, race experience, or your thoughts about anything sailing related, we’d love to hear from you. Just email the editor at mainsheeteditor@googlemail.com If you’re worried about the writing, don’t be. We can have a chat over the phone if you’d prefer not to write. | |||

Free Wifi and Ethernet at the clubhouse Don't forget the WiFi and ethernet network, which is available for club members to use at no charge. If you want to be able to surf the net and send emails from laptops and phones inside the club through wifi, you’ll just need to get the password, which is obtainable from the club. There are also two Ethernet sockets behind the leather sofa for those who have Corporate laptops which can't be connected via wireless because of the lack of administration rights. |
