Junior sailing
Worthing Yacht Club had an active junior section that encouraged children within the club to get out sailing and which used to meet on alternate Friday evenings during the summer months. The club is looking to expand this informal, parent-led junior sailing to some thing more formal and ambitious, perhaps even to developing a training centre at the club. The ideas are in their infancy and a lot of work needs to be done to go progress these ideas. Whether this involves close links with existing training centres at Adur, Bosham and/or Hove Lagoon (as we have done in the past) or going all out to run courses at Worthing itself has yet to be determined. There are issues with both approaches. Meanwhile, anyone interested in getting their children out on the water should talk with the Commodore who will be able to point you at the relevant people involved with this.
Other junior activities
It is envisaged that the land-based activities for club juniors will continue as before with an Easter egg hunt over the Easter weekend. We may introduce some other fun stuff like T-shirt decoration, kite making and maybe even a sandcastle competition if we get decent weather this summer. Hopefully there will be an opportunity to have some family barbeques and there is always the very popular junior challenge near Christmas. Keep your eye on the bulletin board for more details
